When I was little we didn’t celebrate Halloween like other kids. Our mom thought Halloween represented evil so there we no decorations or scar costumes. And I was okay with that as long as she let us go trick or treating!
When I had kids of my own, I was working 12-hour shifts in an office and the cycle repeated. My kids didn’t get to go all out on Halloween. Sure they dressed up for school and went trick or treating but that’s it.
It’s A Whole New Game Now
If you stopped by Not Now Mom’s Busy you will have already ready the story about my favorite childhood Halloween memory. It was the best Halloween ever and I don’t think I’ll ever forget it!
Even though my kids are teens now they still like to go out trick or treating and they’ll even dress up for Halloween. But this year marks a very special year because I’m a grandma now. That means I have to step up my A-game because there will be a 23-month-old little boy who I have to impress!
My Plan To Recreate The Halloween Party of 1977
One thing for sure, the prices aren’t the same so I’ll have to be creative and patiently looking for great deals on party favors, prizes, food, and the all-important candy. It’s not Halloween without candy, right?
Since my grandson will be only 23 months I don’t want to get too scary. We’ll keep some G-rated Halloween themed movies and music playing and decorate the house with cute Halloween accessories.
He doesn’t eat sweets but Grandma will be allowed to let him try some candy, I got clearance from my daughter, lol! I’ll bake some cookies and caramel apples and for the main course, hot dogs or pizza!
